Dr. Konstantinos Tsetsos

Dr. phil. Konstantinos Tsetsos studied political science, modern and contemporary History and Law for Social Sciences at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He obtained his doctorate in 2014 at the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich on conflict outcomes in asymmetric conflicts with his thesis “Vengeance of the Melians: A theory of conflict outcomes in asymmetric conflicts”. Konstantinos Tsetsos is co-author of the book “The Nature of Sea Power: International Relations in the Maritime Environment in the 20th and 21st Centuries”, as well as the author of numerous articles, papers and analyses on maritime security, future scenarios and security policy.

Konstantinos Tsetsos conducts research on issues of international politics, particularly international security. His work includes contributions on geopolitics, theories of war and asymmetric warfare, research into the causes of war, hybrid warfare, political risk analysis, strategic foresight, future-oriented security policy, scenario analysis, maritime security, civil-military cooperation, disaster and crisis management.

Since 2018, Dr. Tsetsos has been Head of Foresight at the Metis Institute for Strategy and Foresight and advises the Ministry of Defence on strategically relevant issues current and future international policy. His expertise and many years of research experience make Konstantinos Tsetsos a sought-after expert in selected NATO and EU working groups and research groups.

Dr. Konstantinos Tsetsos teaches on the Master’s programme in Intelligence and Security Studies in Berlin, the Master’s programme in International Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and the Master’s programme in Applied Strategy and International Security at the University of Plymouth. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Hellenic National Defence College and the Hellenic Military Academy. From 2008 to 2020, he headed the Model United Nations project group at UniBwM. He is also regularly active in public engagement through lectures.
